Sometimes when I’m all alone, I think about how selfish I am. I cringe in horror at my disgusting self.

Hmm…. Difficult to say.

But I convince myself each day that I have love. And perhaps… that’s how I can still live instead of merely existing.

I lack creativity. I lack innovativeness.

I can’t take two colours and put them together to form something nicer than just two colours. I can’t resize text and arrange them.

Hmm. Maybe I should just find out what I’m good at and quit being such a loser for thinking of how big of a loser I am when I actually am not.

It’s been a long time since I updated. Not because I didn’t want to, not because I didn’t have anything to post. It was because I couldn’t access WordPress while I was in Brunei. Funny how I could access it during the early part I was there and couldn’t later on.

Being back in quiet UTP early gives me some space and time to just think. Reflect on the past three or so years of being a student, and the eight months of being an employee of an oilfield service company. Plan for my final year.

Greatest concerns now: my internship final report binding and FYP.

Anyway, this year I started it different because I came up with some New Year Resolutions. I’m not the type that plans. I’m not good with coming up with realistic goals with realistic time-frames to achieve those goals. I’m not good with adjusting calendars to suit the situation. I just couldn’t be bothered.

But one day, my church leader said something that rang a bell. A very cliched phrase, but it’s always the cliches which speak volumes of relevant truth.

If we fail to plan, actually we plan to fail.

So, since I’m not willing to fail, I’m willing to learn how to plan. God save me.

GAS = Guitar Acquisition Syndrome.

My girlfriend asked me to sing in my room, and I just answered:

“I won’t sing unless I have a guitar.”

I really wish I have a guitar. Why am I still whining about it? If I want a guitar so badly, why don’t I just go and buy one since I’m already earning so much money?

You can’t JUST buy a guitar. If you’re a guitarist, you’d understand that a guitar is very personal. You put your hands all over it, you hug it to your body. You sing when you play your guitar, you experience emotions, you spend time.

It matters when it comes to choosing YOUR guitar. More than just the brand, the ‘objective’ quantitative quality, more than the price. It’s the sound, it’s the feel, it’s the smell, it’s the colour.

Sigh.

Brunei has many big houses with large compound.
I saw a Sugarbun somewhere.
I saw a golf course called Panaga.
Drivers here are courteous. They wait for you to cross the road even though three cars could have passed the zebra crossing before you even reach it.
There’s a show called Teen Cribs. Gila.

I will try to regularly update my blog by posting random stuff about myself or about Brunei.

I got my PPE today. Those who don’t know what PPE stands for, please go and read up on HSE. Those who don’t know what HSE stands for, please search it online. Two navy blue coveralls and a pair of steel-toed boots.

Brunei people who speak Malay have weird concoction of an accent. Their accent sounds like a mix of Sarawakian, Filipino, Indonesian and something else I don’t know.

I have yet to eat a proper balanced meal while I’m here. I’ve been eating chicken rice and pork rice for lunch and dinner everyday.

Free breakfast at the hotel everyday, yay. Always have:

two slices of toast cut into four
some jam or marmalade with butter
a small glass of highly concentrated fruit juice
a cup of tea or coffee
and something else you can order from the menu.

So far, I’ve tasted:

(uber salty saltier than the sea) scrambled eggs
(also uber salty) bolognese spaghetti
(uber sticky) pancake (which had too much honey)
(again uber salty) Chinese style fried rice with chicken
Cornflakes with milk

Free breakfast everyday. Free laundry. Free Internet.

One Catholic church here. Wondering if I should attend that one.

It takes a two hours and $7 to get to Bandar (the capital). It takes one hour and probably a fortune to get to Miri. Good luck to you guys getting here to Kuala Belait because taxi from Miri is RM200+ I heard.

Example of euphemism as below:

Inhalation of air through nose until about 85% of lungs capacity followed by immediate expulsion of air from lungs, creating audible sound.
